Signs worth testing for

Symptoms of low testosterone.

Testosterone falls slowly with age for most men, and for some it drops low enough to cause symptoms. They tend to creep in, which is why many men put them down to stress, work or getting older.

Sex and intimacy

  • A lower sex drive
  • Fewer morning erections, or erections that are harder to keep

Energy, mood and focus

  • Tiredness that rest doesn't fix
  • Low mood or irritability
  • Trouble concentrating

Body changes

  • Losing muscle or strength
  • Gaining body fat, especially around the middle
  • Less body hair

Many of these have other causes

Poor sleep, sleep apnea, thyroid problems, low mood, weight and some medicines can all cause the same symptoms. A blood test is the only way to know whether testosterone is part of the picture.

How it's diagnosed

Low T is confirmed, not assumed.

Testosterone changes through the day and from one day to the next, so a single reading isn't enough. This is how your practitioner gets to a real answer. Start with our wellness labs.

  1. 1

    Your history

Your symptoms, sleep, medicines, health history and what you'd like to change, talked through at your free consultation.

  2. 2

    Morning blood tests

Testosterone is usually highest in the morning, so blood is drawn then, and a low result is repeated on a separate morning before anything's decided. Your panel may also look at related hormones and your blood count.

  3. 3

    Your results, read with you

Your practitioner explains what the numbers mean and what the options are, including the option not to treat, or to look at another cause first.

How TRT is given

Injections, creams or pellets.

The same hormone can be given in different ways. The route changes how often you dose, how steady your levels are and how your plan is monitored.

Testosterone injections

The most common route. Injections are given on a schedule your practitioner sets, and your levels are checked on that schedule too.

Creams and gels

Applied to the skin each day. Skin contact can pass testosterone to partners and children, so your practitioner tells you how to apply it safely.

Testosterone pellets

Small pellets placed under the skin in a short in-office procedure, releasing testosterone slowly over the following months. Once a pellet is in, the dose can't be lowered until it wears off.

Safety and follow-up

The conversations we have before, and after.

Testosterone is a prescription medicine with real risks for some men. A TRT plan is only as good as the monitoring that comes with it.

Who shouldn't take TRT

  • Men with prostate or breast cancer
  • Men with a high red blood cell count
  • Men with untreated severe sleep apnea or uncontrolled heart failure
  • Men trying to conceive

Possible side effects

Acne or oily skin, fluid retention, breast tenderness or enlargement, a rise in red blood cell count, smaller testicles and a lower sperm count. We go through them before you start, and watch for them after.

TRT and fertility

Testosterone therapy can lower sperm production. If you're hoping to have children, now or later, raise it before you start so you can talk through what that means for you.

How monitoring works

After you start, your testosterone and blood count are retested and your symptoms and side effects reviewed, then checked again at regular intervals. Your dose is adjusted from those results, not guessed.

Testosterone often declines gradually from middle age, but age alone isn't a reason to treat. Your practitioner looks at your symptoms and your confirmed levels together.

Part of a wider plan

Sleep, weight and stress all affect testosterone. Your plan can sit alongside medical weight loss or sexual wellness care if that's what you need. Women's hormone care is on our menopause treatment page.

Questions

What men ask us first.

Anything else? Call (239) 360-6253, any day from 8am to 8pm.

What is testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)?

Testosterone replacement therapy is a prescription treatment for men whose blood tests confirm low testosterone alongside symptoms such as a lower sex drive, tiredness or loss of muscle. It's most often given as injections or creams, and it's monitored with follow-up blood tests.

How do I know if I have low testosterone?

Symptoms alone can't tell you. Low testosterone is confirmed with blood tests, usually taken in the morning and repeated on a separate day, read alongside your symptoms and history. That's how every TRT plan here starts.

What are the symptoms of low testosterone?

Common ones include a lower sex drive, changes in erections, tiredness, losing muscle or strength, gaining body fat, low mood, irritability and trouble concentrating. Many of these have other causes, which is why testing comes first.

How is testosterone therapy given?

Most often as injections on a schedule your practitioner sets, or as a cream or gel applied to the skin. Pellets placed under the skin are another option for some men. Your practitioner explains how each route differs before you choose.

What are the side effects of TRT?

Possible side effects include acne or oily skin, fluid retention, breast tenderness or enlargement, a rise in red blood cell count, smaller testicles and a lower sperm count. Your practitioner goes through them with you before you start and monitors for them after.

Will testosterone therapy affect my fertility?

It can. Testosterone therapy can lower sperm production. If you'd like to have children, now or later, tell your practitioner before starting so you can talk through what that means for you.

Who shouldn't take testosterone therapy?

Men with prostate or breast cancer, a high red blood cell count, untreated severe sleep apnea or uncontrolled heart failure, and men trying to conceive, may not be suitable. Your practitioner reviews your full history first.

How often are my levels checked on TRT?

More often at the start, while your dose is set, then at regular intervals while you're on therapy. Your blood count is checked too, and your dose is adjusted from those results.

Can I start TRT on my first visit?

Not usually. Your first visit is the consultation and, if you agree, the blood draw. Nothing's prescribed until your practitioner has read your results with you.

Do I need a referral for testosterone therapy?

No. You can book a consultation directly online or by calling (239) 360-6253. If you have recent lab results from another doctor, bring them along.

How much does testosterone therapy cost in Naples?

It depends on the panel and the plan you and your practitioner agree on. The consultation is free, and you get a price before you commit.
